Is the Clearly Agent free plan a trial?
No. The free tier is forever-free. The only difference between Free and Pro is monthly conversation volume — ~50 conversations on Free, ~5,000 on Pro ($299/mo). Most stores under ~$10K/mo GMV never need to upgrade.
Will my customers see a "Powered by Clearly" badge?
No. The widget is fully white-labeled on the free tier — your brand, your avatar, your colors. The visible attribution is whatever you set in the agent name.
What's the catch with the free tier?
No catch — but you do hit a soft cap around 50 customer conversations per month. After that, the agent posts a "we'll follow up" message and queues the conversation for you to answer manually. Most pre-revenue and early-stage stores live in this volume range comfortably.
Why is it free when competitors charge?
Free tier is our acquisition channel. Most stores try the free plan first, prove it works for their store, and upgrade to Pro when they grow past the conversation cap. We bet on volume + upgrade rate over per-seat licensing.
Does the free plan include catalog awareness?
Yes. Free plan reads your full Shopify catalog (products, variants, inventory, prices), looks up orders, applies discount codes, escalates to human takeover — same agent behavior as Pro, just capped at conversation volume.
How is it different from Shopify Inbox (also free)?
Shopify Inbox is a chat surface — every message pings your phone or email and you reply manually. There's no AI. Clearly Agent answers most questions automatically and only escalates when a human is needed.
Can I use my own ChatGPT/Claude API key on the free tier?
Not yet — Clearly Agent ships with the LLM included. Bring-your-own-key is on the roadmap for stores that want to use specific models or hit their own rate limits.
What happens if I exceed the free tier conversation cap?
The agent gracefully posts a "we'll follow up shortly" message and queues the conversation in your merchant inbox. No surprise bills, no widget shutoff. You decide whether to upgrade or answer manually.
