- Does the agent need training data?
- No. It reads your products, prices, variants, inventory, and policies straight from Shopify on install. You can add a knowledge base (FAQs, size guides, custom docs) and tune the agent's personality and brand voice from the admin, but the catalog is wired from the first conversation.
- What about my existing chat widget?
- Clearly Agent is a theme app extension — it embeds via the Shopify theme editor without code. If you already run Tidio, Intercom, or Shopify Inbox, you can disable Clearly's widget and only use the agent through their channels (we have an API-only mode).
- Is the agent slow or expensive on conversations?
- Free tier covers ~50 conversations/month for trial usage. Above that you upgrade to Clearly Pro at $299/mo for ~5,000 conversations. We use Anthropic's Claude on the backend; the per-conversation cost is bundled into the plan, not metered to your AWS bill.
- GDPR / data privacy?
- Customer-deletion, customer-data-request, and shop-deletion webhooks are wired per the Shopify GDPR template. Conversation data lives in our infrastructure with deletion on request. We don't train models on your conversations.
- How long does setup take?
- Two minutes. Install from the App Store, name your agent, pick a personality, and the theme extension activates automatically. Catalog sync happens in the background — most stores see the first product card in chat within 30 seconds of install.
- Can I test before customers see it?
- Yes. The admin has a "test chat" mode that talks to the same agent with the same catalog — no widget activation needed. Once you flip the switch, the storefront widget goes live.
